Who are we?
Our Mission
My name is Paula Thorne. God spoke to my heart about helping seniors feel valued and loved. I am a retired Hospice nurse and visited many elderly living in nursing homes over the years. I would often see these people just sitting in their wheelchairs not talking to anyone often asleep or just staring blankly at nothing. Or I’d find them laying on their bed in their rooms sleeping the day away. Over Christmas I, along with some others from my church, stepped in to bring gifts to a few residents at a local nursing home who had no visitors or family at all. I saw the same picture of residents just sitting around as I saw as a nurse in years past. Something ignited inside me when I went to each or these residents bent down close to them with a warm smile on my face and clasped their hands in both of mine. Not only did I feel the love of the Lord flow out of me to them, but I saw their face transform from one of sadness into one of joy. I realized through this experience that it doesn’t take much to bring a moment of joy to these seniors. All it takes is an occasional visit accompanied by a warm smile, and a listening ear to help these often forgotten seniors feel that they are loved and valued. My mission through this website is to connect others in the community with lonely seniors in nursing homes or who are living alone with the goal of helping them know that they are not forgotten but loved and valued.
